Let’s face it, part of the pitches that you often hear from Network Marketing companies is “It’s not selling – We don’t sell. You don’t have to sell our products – just use the products.” You may have been told that it’s good you don’t have to do any sales if you just use enough of the product yourself. You may have been told by your upline, crossline, downline or line of sponsorship that all you have to do is find someone else to use the product and that is not sales. What? Where did that go wrong?
Network Marketing and MLM companies are about sales – lots of sales. All companies have a retail sales rule just to keep them legal. You will be required to sell your service or product to the public just like any other type of business. Even convincing other distributors to use the products is about sales. Sales is sales. You can call it marketing, promotion, referral or anything else but eventually it comes back to sales. “A rose of any other name is still a rose.”
It is not only important, but essential that you know how to sell and how to sell correctly. To have any MLM success, you need to develop your skills in sales, advertising, promotion and marketing.
This fairy tale that spreads its way through the network marketing industry is set up to help people get over the fact that most do not want to sell. Putting the belief that the emphasis isn’t on sales and that instead you are just finding people to use the products or services, helps sponsor those that are reluctant about doing any type of retail sales. Unfairly, many say, ” My MLM is not about products but about finding people to use the product.” While it’s fun to think that, it’s not realistic. Anytime you are asking someone to give you money and you give them a product or service in your MLM business, this is sales.
You may even think that many MLM products will have people falling over one another to buy from you and that all you have to do is announce that you are now involved with the company. It could be a major reality check when this doesn’t happen. Great products are critical but great products by themselves do not sell.
The only time any personal endorsement about your networking company’s products really means anything is when you have nothing financially to gain from the transaction. When the endorsement will earn you a profit, your well-intentioned recommendations to friends and family to purchase your MLM’s products suddenly have a completely different meaning. We all know that when an athlete endorses a product on TV that they only do it because they are getting paid to endorse it.
No matter how great your product is, or you think it is, there will still be sales involved. Every top producer knows that and even cultivates their sales skills to perform even better. In fact, the better your sales techniques, the more successful you will be not only in the movement of the product but when you show the opportunity to others. When you add your sales style to your presentations, your sponsoring dramatically increases.
Once you realize that every successful network marketing company really is about sales, you will improve your profit, your security and your business. If you just go with what your up line or cross line unintentionally tells you, then you will keep the mindset that this isn’t really sales and your product is so great that it will sell itself without you really needing to do anything. Soon, you might be wondering why you are not making any money with your company.
If you ever hope to be successful at any networking marketing company, you have to recognize first that it is “sales”. And, since it is sales, you need a proper “sales strategy” and marketing technique. Once you get to this point, you will be well on your way to massive success.
In fact, you’ll find like all of us do that the product line doesn’t even matter all that much. Although it does help to have nice, unique and useful products, it really just comes down to your sales expertise!
Now you know: A great marketing approach will sell most anything to anyone.
