Now it’s possible to build a MLM using just one leg. No, not build one leg at a time. You can just build one leg.
Although one legged plans have been around for a while, they have not been very popular.
Their unpopularity comes from most old time originators stating only the benefits of the plan and none of the drawbacks. Prior to the 21st century, one legged plans were built on pure hype.
Many used the phrase, “we will build your downline for you”. While that does have some merit, it does not tell the whole story. Even being in this position does not insure a profitable business.
The biggest drawback to this type of network marketing recruiting is that it implies that you do not have to do anything. Do nothing and get paid does sound good but not very realistic.
There are not very many businesses that will give you something for nothing.
If everyone has the expectation that you do not have to do anything, then the culture of the business is to do nothing. If everyone does nothing but get in, eventually no one else is recruited in the business. Now all you have left is a company full of people doing nothing.
However, once connected to a one-legged compensation plan, participants can expect new members to be placed below them. If there is a lot of sponsoring going on, then there will be a lot of people in the downline. But just having a huge downline is just part of the equation.
There are lots of people in lots of different MLM plans that have found themselves in a position with some massive downlines. But if you have to create 2,3, 6, or more other legs before you can get any of the profits from this big leg, then it can become discouraging.
The momentum is with the one large leg. Having to start a new leg by yourself can be very hard. Only you and your new leg can create momentum and that is why it is not easily done in other MLM plans by so many people.
One or two real leaders can change this entire pattern and make a lot of money especially in a one legged plan. If the one leg plan allows leaders to get more compensation by sponsoring more people or helping others sponsor people, you have a business incentive to attract major leaders. Personal sponsoring bonuses, growth bonuses and Infinity bonuses covering the entire downline are critical for attracting the right kind of leaders.
With the right leadership in place, then they will have the financial incentive to insure that everyone will want to really keep recruiting and not expect something for nothing.
